A funny coincidence just happened. Carol Miles, my interview subject in the most recent episode of The Ruminant Podcast, contacted me post-episode release to share a set of plans for a DIY bean and grain thresher that was developed and made public-domain by Roger J. Edberg and Allen Dong. Carol had recently teamed up with some of her students to build the machine. Meanwhile, back in mid-December, I received a submission from Dave F. regarding his having built a thresher using the same plans. Here’s where it gets loco: Dave F. is an anagram of Carol Miles! And their names together are an anagram for DIY Bean Thresher! Clearly the universe wants me to post about this.
Ok. For serious now. Here are the actual plans for the thresher, as a pdf. And: here is a list containing a link to those plans plus links to plans for other DIY Farm Machines. Below are the photos that Dave F. submitted, plus a diagram I pinched from the thresher plans. And here’s a link to a similar post Carol produced, which will be more helpful than this post will be to anyone actually attempting to build this thing.

The thresher was out all night doing tequila shots. Sadly, the bathroom was only like fifteen feet away.
